Gadsden Regional Medical Center (GRMC) has served the Gadsden. Alabama and surrounding areas with high quality health care for more than 100 years. With CEO Stephen J. Pennington taking over the helm last year, the hospital leadership was looking to make additional changes to transform the hospital into a state-of-the art facility, with the Emergency Department at the forefront. They turned to Pegasus Emergency Group to take over physician services in the ED, a reflection of the administration’s commitment to great patient care and customer satisfaction.
Since November 2009 patient care at GRMC’s Emergency Department has been provided by Pegasus Emergency Medicine specialists. A triage area offers a convenient area to quickly evaluate each emergency so patients receive a timely response to their medical needs, and we work closely with local rescue personnel to provide quality patient care seven days a week. In addition, our Emergency Physicians and staff are supported by specialists who are on call 24 hours a day. Recently GRMC received full accreditation for PCI by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Djiby Diop MD, FACEP
Medical Director
Dr. Diop joined Pegasus Emergency Group in the fall of 2009 as Chairman and Medical Director of the Emergency Department. He is a graduate of Brown University School of Medicine where he combined a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Medical Science in Biochemical pharmacology. Dr. Diop went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard University School of Public Health. Dr. Diop is an expert on 21st Century Point of Care/bedside testing and how it can lead to better, more effective, and more efficient patient care resulting in better clinical outcomes in the Emergency Department.
