Hunterdon Medical Center Emergency Department

Flemington, New Jersey

We are proud of our Emergency Department at Hunterdon Medical Center. Hunterdon's administration recently presented an award to the Emergency Department for outstanding patient satisfaction after the ED achieved Press Ganey scores of 99%, the best in New Jersey for hospitals with 30-40,000 patients a year. These excellent scores are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to patient health and customer satisfaction. Pegasus Emergency Group also received the 2009 Best of Flemington Award for Medical Services by the U.S. Commerce Association.

Hunterdon Medical Center Emergency Department serves all of Hunterdon County, and patients frequently travel from Somerset, Warren and Mercer counties, as well as eastern Pennsylvania, for our care. The state-of-the-art ED includes 22 private patient care areas equipped with the latest cardiac monitoring, trauma and diagnostic equipment, as well as a designated Fast Track area for minor illnesses and injuries.

Hunterdon's Emergency Department, under Pegasus Emergency Group's direction, was designated a stroke center after meeting JCAHO's rigorous new standards and performance measurements in caring for stroke patients and offering state-of-the-art treatments. JCAHO standards require hospitals provide excellent patient care, including rapid assessment by a multi-disciplinary team, and the most advanced treatment with clot-busting medications. We are committed to educating area health care professionals and the general public about stroke risk factors and the need for rapid treatment.

We care for 34,000 adult and pediatric patients a year. Pegasus Emergency Physicians staff the department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are backed by a team of surgical and specialty physicians who are on call around the clock. Our entire staff of Emergency Department nurses are registered nurses with specialized emergency care training. They consistently rank in the 99th percentile nationally for patient satisfaction.
